Excess of Salinity

The excess of salinity in the soil causes significant damage to agricultural crops. This factor is capable of slowing down the ability of crops to supply water and the nutrients dissolved in it, causing nutritional imbalances that open the way to different physiopathies.
In addition, over salinity is often accompanied by poor soil structure and poor water-holding capacity of the soil. This phenomenon generates often an excessive accumulation of Sodium (Na+), Chlorides (Cl-) and Carbonates (CO3²-).
Consequently, the root systems are weakened and have a reduced nutrient absorption capacity that generates deficiencies, mainly calcium-magnesium-potassium, which also result in low photosynthetic activity.
